Why Grass-fed Beef?

Two important reasons we choose to raise grass-fed beef:
1

FOR YOUR HEALTH:

When you eat Denny’s Grass-finished Beef it will not only be a pleasurable eating experience but you will be eating that which can improve your health.

Good health is a concern we all share.  In fact, one of the reasons that we got interested in raising and selling grass-finished beef is because cancer has touched our family.

In 2002 John was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lympacytic Leukiema). Over the last 19 years he has received several treatments, including the most recent which was a full year of chemo in pill form.  He is currently feeling well and has experienced little side effects. We are thankful that the Lord has had a hand in this and pray for continued healing.

Research has shown that the fat from a grass-finished animal is much different than the fat from a grain-fed animal. Specifically, grass-fed products have more Omega 3 fats, CLA, and vitamin E. Omega 3 fats are essential to good health and are important in heart and brain function. They have also been shown to reduce the risk of cancer. CLA or conjugated linoleic acid is important in the fight against cancer. Vitamin E is associated with lower levels of heart disease and cancer as well as anti-aging properties.

According to www.eatwild.com, “Meat, eggs, and dairy products from pastured animals are ideal for your health. Compared with commercial products, they offer you more "good" fats, and fewer "bad" fats. They are richer in antioxidants; including vitamins E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C. Furthermore, they do not contain traces of added hormones, antibiotics or other drugs."

FOR THE HEALTH OF OUR LAND:

Denny’s Grass-fed Beef operates under the Biblical instruction of stewardship.  We feel we have a responsibility before the Lord to care for the land that has been placed under our care.  It is our desire to leave it in better condition than we received it. This belief moves us forward and guides the many choices we must make in the day to day operation of our farm.  For sure we have not arrived, but we continue to push forward with planned improvements in erosion control, water quality and soil health.
